Biography

Carlos Grider is an author, financial planner, and independent field researcher focused on the digital nomad and expat world. A former U.S. Marine and cultural advisor, analyst, and management consultant, Carlos brings a background in structured, high-stakes information gathering to a very different subject: how nomads and expats actually live, move, and adapt across the globe. He is the author of Digital Nomad Nation and the researcher behind the 2022 Global Digital Nomad Study, one of the first data-driven looks at who digital nomads really are. He writes at A Brother Abroad, covering visas, cost of living, and the on-the-ground realities of long-term travel in the places he's actually lived. Carlos holds an MBA in global business from the McCombs School of Business and is pursuing his CFP and IRS Enrolled Agent credentials, with a focus on cross-border and expat financial planning. He has lived in, worked in, and traveled through more than 65 countries, and is currently building The Sovereign Expat, an advisory practice for nomads and expats navigating the financial and logistical realities of life abroad.
