Biography

Mr Deepak Raj Joshi is a former CEO of Nepal Tourism Board – NTB (National Tourism Organization of Nepal) who served from September 2024 to April 2026. He had served in the same capacity from December 2016 - December 2019. NTB functions as public private partnership modality and is a National Tourism Organization (NTO) of Nepal. He also served as the National Project Director (NPD) for the Sustainable Tourism Project in Nepal which is a joint project of UNDP and NTB. Mr Joshi is a Founding Executive Member of - World Tourism Network. This network is established to provide a global platform for alternative voice in tourism. It is extended in the network of 125 countries. Mr Joshi served as a Director General at Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) from May 1, 2022 to May 30th of 2024. CNI is an apex umbrella organization of large and medium industries, both in manufacturing and service sectors, of Nepal and works for the economic development of Nepal. Mr Joshi also served as a Board Member of the Soaltee Kathmandu - one of the oldest and largest hotel chain of Nepal. During his 20 years of work experience in destination management, tourism promotion, Mr. Joshi has worked with many levels of tourism professionals of Nepal and also has worked with the top international partners. He has also served at Pacific Asia Travel pAssociation (PATA) being in the Executive Board and Chairperson for Destination Committee-PATA. Mr. Joshi has been awarded the highest IIPT Champions in Challenge Award in 2018 from "International Institute for Peace through Travel and Tourism” And, he was also awarded as the Best CEO in Asia in the National Tourism Organizations category. He is also awarded as the International Tourism Hero from World Tourism Network. An avid reader and writer, Mr. Joshi has written on tourism for select issues of national broadsheets, contributed to the few books and has presented papers on tourism with original ideas at seminars and workshops in Nepal and abroad. He has achieved Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and Masters in Sociology in his education degrees. And he has got international courses on project development, destination management and tourism promotion from Israel, China,TheNetherlands. Mr. Joshi is known for his quick wit, passion for tourism, and genuine nature among his colleagues and working partners.
