Biography
Garry de la Pomerai is a disaster risk reduction and security specialist with 32 years of experience in security and risk management, including 18 years as an independent DRR consultant to global institutions such as UNISDR, UNESCO, UNCRD, and the Resilient Cities Initiative. Serving as the Honorary Chair of the UNESCO Global Task Force for the Built Environment, he focuses on structural safety, community resilience, and innovative environmental engineering. Currently based in Kathmandu, Garry leads technological and environmental risk initiatives as CEO of SOLUZION for Strategic Technology Development, directing programs like the Master Planning Initiative (MPI) for rural municipalities and WEaRE (Water Environment and Risk Education). His work spans Advanced Earthquake Early Warning Systems (AEEWS), atmospheric water extraction technologies, and community-driven school safety campaigns.
